Unity Hall Windows
Description
Mr Garry Webb on behalf of Nelson council contacted us with an initial idea to replicate 4 windows that were originally in the Wellbeing Unity Hall in Nelson, Lancashire. After an initial meeting and physically seeing one of the original windows (now in a backlit case in Clarion House) we took a template of the original to work to. Both the large windows were made from this template requiring us to source colours of glass similar to the original window. Hundreds of pieces of glass in the intricate design were hand cut. The top two panels had to be re designed and replicated from a 2” black and white photograph as there was no physical window to take a template from. The project took over a year from the original meeting to completion as the council were awaiting Lottery Grant funding for the windows. Once we had fitted the windows we protected them with 8mm polycarbonate sheeting which will ensure the windows will not be damaged from outside. We are very proud of these windows and how well they look as they are a reproducton of how the windows looked many years
